Grace by name, not by nature

FOOD LOVING, REDHEADED, 19 YEAR OLD JOURNALISM STUDENT.
In that order.

Another new years resolution..

So I’ve added another resolution to my growing list - by the way so far my quest for the perfect bikini body is going well-ish. Anyway my latest resolution is to read as many of the modern classics as I can. Predetermined by my Dad. Literary god.

So been to Waterstone’s and after a hefty £71 spent on my first few - not out the student loan don’t worry, although I’m sure it would be deemed a perfectly respectable purchase anyway.

First one is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, as are my other first five-ish. So starting it tonight. Hopefully will open my eyes to books that can actually be deemed literature, rather than chick lit, like my typical read.

Starting it tonight. Will update tomorrow with how I’m finding it, who knows might even write a cheeky little review.. You’ll have to wait and see. Looks fairly short - only about 5cm thick with largish print - so hoping to have it finished in a week, so I can get my literary mission well and truly underway.

Night all. X

Baking again!

Baking again!

And so it’s all over for another year…

Can’t express how much I have enjoyed Christmas day this year, but doesn’t change the fact that I have a sneaky feeling of relief that it’s all over for another year.

I enjoy the lull between Christmas and new year; most people only go back to work for a few days, there is still a festive feeling in the air, and an unmistakable excitement for the new year ahead. A fresh start, in whatever respect you choose, and most see it as an opportunity to better themselves and consider their lives.

I, for one, love new year, and making new years resolutions seems to be a hobby within itself for me. How long I stick to them for is another matter. And this year is no different, I have a list as long as my arm. Well, my iPad screen anyway. Seem to have made loads this year, not because I think there are all that many things I need to improve upon (there are, but we’ll be here all day!) but because I feel as though I actually need to achieve one of them this year, and be setting myself up with loads of them, I seem to think I might have a better chance of coming close to at least one of them.

My new years resolutions range from the typical (lose weight, don’t be such a fat heffer) to the slightly obscure (watch less telly, indulge my baking hobby instead) to the downright unachievable (stop biting my nails, don’t start arguments with my fella). Well, maybe the first one will prove to be the least possible. Oh well. I just want to have a go. I want to be sitting here blogging in a years time telling you about all the things I’ve achieved in a year; ideally something along the lines of “I’ve become a size 8 domestic goddess..with really nice nails?” Haha.

Only time will tell. Will try to remember to update throughout the year in the hope that maybe if someone is reading about my challenges that there will be more incentive to achieve them. Pahahaha, who am I kidding?!

We’ll see. Obviously.

MYLO XYLOTO

sees coldplay back to their former glory, in my eyes anyway. this album showcases chris martin’s unrivaled ability to create beautiful, soulful, anthemic riffs, coupled with obscure from the heart lyrics.

favourite song has to be paradise and it’s great to see this legendary band with not only a record in the charts, but the prospect of a christmas number 1. they truly deserve it. i adore the gentle intro, you get that sweet feeling that you know what’s coming next is amazing and when the riff drops you can imagine it feeling an arena.

also love charlie brown, hurts like heaven and princess of china and rihanna’s vocals on it are just astounding.

for me, coldplay are certainly back to their rush of blood to the head best, and i must urge everyone and anyone who considers themself not just a fan of the band, but a lover of music, to give this album a good listen. you won’t be disappointed. i wasn’t.
